You don't need more time to make an impact.
You need a better way to show up.

Eight weeks. One hour a week. A small online circle. That's the whole thing.

Why this works when other volunteer programs don't

Most volunteer programs are built around time. Contribution Circles are built around how you show up — even on the weeks when life gets in the way.

A small group of 4–6 people. Online, one hour a week, for eight weeks. Everyone shares what they're working on. Everyone supports each other. \Miss a week? You're still in. No catch-up, no guilt.

What you're committing to

  • 1 focused hour per week

  • 8 weeks total

  • Small online groups (6 or fewer participants)

  • Real conversations centered on mission impact

  • No long-term commitment

8 weeks total - with a clear beginning and end.

Lead a Nonprofit?

If your organization runs on volunteers, there's a different conversation worth having. Contribution Circles are free for nonprofit partners during the pilot phase — and we built it because nonprofit leaders shouldn't have to figure this out alone.

About this program

This 8-week program is part of doctoral research at California Miramar University exploring how structured appreciation strengthens volunteer motivation and nonprofit impact.

The research suggests something rare — when volunteers feel genuinely appreciated, they actually keep showing up.

Participation is voluntary and confidential. Findings are reported only in aggregate form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jump to common questions

Details about timing, expectations, and how the cohorts work—so you can join with confidence.

Do I need to live in a specific city or region to participate?

Short answer: No—participate from anywhere with a stable internet connection and video.

How much time should I actually plan for each week?

Quick answer: Plan ~60 minutes per week for the live session. Sessions are focused so you won’t need extra time unless you choose to contribute more.

What kind of work will we actually be doing for the nonprofit?

Summary: You’ll join focused small-group discussions about mission impact and peer recognition. Optional contributions (ideas, updates, event support) are welcome but not required.

Can I switch cohorts after I sign up?

Short answer: We try to help, but we encourage staying with one cohort for the full eight-week cycle to keep continuity.

Is there any cost to join a cohort?

Short answer: No cost for volunteers during the pilot. Nonprofit partners receive support in exchange for anonymous, aggregate data for the research study.
